Sandgate Celebrates Alec Reverente’s AO Success!
For those who missed the thrilling AO 1 Point Slam, broadcast live on 14 January 2026 from Rod Laver Arena during the Australian Open, we’re incredibly proud to share that Sandgate Tennis’s very own Alec Reverente competed like a true champion, representing Queensland with pride!
The 1‑Point Slam is a new event with a high-stakes, single-point format featuring 48 players, including top pros like Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Nick Kyrgios, and Coco Gauff. This year’s event was unforgettable, with amateur Jordan Smith from NSW winning – taking out the $1 million prize in front of a hyped crowd!
Alec, who won Sandgate Tennis’s 1‑Point Slam event and the QLD State Final on his way to competing in the Australian Open 1‑Point Slam, was one of the final two amateurs remaining in the national draw. This qualified him for the play-off for a brand-new Kia EV3, and with nerves of steel, Alec won the car!
Alec’s success also earned Sandgate & District Youth Tennis Association a $5,000 grant from Tennis Australia, which will fund a court treatment for our five main synthetic grass courts and help keep them in tip top condition.
Congratulations, Alec – Sandgate Tennis and your whole community are bursting with pride!
