A history spanning more than 65 years
- Our doors opened many years ago. Yes, in fact, during 1949.
- A 30 yr old local resident of Brighton, his friends, their families, began playing Tennis and organizing competitive fixtures on private properties throughout Sandgate.
- 2 years on, then 1961, the “Sandgate and District Youth Tennis Association (S.D.Y.T.A.) was officially registered in Brisbane.
- Moving on, many highly ranked world recognized players, challenging Grand Slam Events originated here at S.D.Y.T.A.
- Currently 2014. We have an over 55 yr old team holding World Ranking, winning 6 International single and double titles.
- If you ask us now “Can our juniors follow their act?” our answer is “Yes”.
- SDYTA (now trading as “Sandgate Tennis”) lease this centre from Brisbane City Council as a “Not for Profit” organization.
